A first thought, on how this site is put together.

It’s a static site built with Jekyll and hosted on GitHub Pages. The type is Nanum Myeongjo for body text, Junicode 2 for the italic display lettering, and Berkeley Mono for code. The palette is warm paper and brick red with a teal accent — and there’s a light/dark toggle hiding in the clock on the homepage.

The design is heavily influenced by matthew j lee’s personal website. Funnily, I came across it IRL, at the an exhibition on digital folklore and web craft at the Photographer’s Gallery. I liked the vibe and took a picture of it. Then I gave it to Claude code and asked it to do its thing. Thanks Matthew and LJ (whose site I originally forked from)!

I swapped the Gingko leaves for a California poppy. I recently visited San Francisco and had never seen yellow poppies before. I love how bright and happy it feels, in contrast with the typical red poppies associated with Remembrance Day in the UK, which reminds me of cold miserable November days.
